UPDATE: Two men wanted for Sunday Murder

MARTINSVILLE – On May 13, 2018 at approximately 12:40 AM, the Martinsville Police Department was notified of a shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Askin Street. A victim was taken to SOVAH of Martinsville. That victim was Sean Demetrius Goddard, Jr. (age 20) of Axton, VA. Goddard was not able to recover and on May 14th he died from those injuries. As a result of his death, additional charges of 1st Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder have been added to the list of warrants against Brandon Thomas and Adrian Watkins. The updated list of warrants is as follows:

Brandon Tarall Thomas, B Street, Martinsville, age 30; Murder in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Shoot a firearm into an occupied dwelling, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Posses Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Discharging a Firearm in a Street Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Reckless Handling of a Firearm Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Brandishing a Firearm after having been previously convicted of such.

Adrian Eugene Watkins, Travis Court, Bassett, age 27; Murder in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Malicious Wounding, Shoot a firearm into an occupied dwelling, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Discharging a Firearm in a Street Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Reckless Handling of a Firearm Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another.

Both Brandon Thomas and Adrian Watkins are being sought by area law enforcement and are considered armed and dangerous. The case is still being actively investigated. The public is urged to call 911 if they know of the whereabouts of either Thomas or Watkins. More information will be released when available; however for now, no further information will be released.

Warrants issued: Attempted 1st degree murder warrants have been issued on two suspects from a shooting that left one person in critical condition. The shooting took place on the 1000 block of Askin Street at approximately 12:40 AM. As a result of an investigation by Martinsville Police, several warrants have been issued against two suspects. The suspects and list of warrants are as follows:

ORIGINAL:

On May13, 2018 at approximately 12:40 AM, the Martinsville Police Department was notified of a shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Askin Street. The victim has been taken to SOVAH of Martinsville.

The victim was Sean Demetrius Goddard, Jr., 20, of Axton.

Investigators are processing evidence from the scene and are interviewing witnesses.
