Gunfire Erupts in Eden Neighborhood; Felon Faces Multiple Charges

EDEN, N.C. (BTW21)— A 23-year-old Stoneville man is in custody and facing multiple felony charges following a shots fired incident in Eden on Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Eden Police Department.


Officers were dispatched at approximately 3:23 p.m. on May 7 to the area of East Arbor Lane and Linden Drive after reports of gunfire involving a white SUV and a black SUV.


Witness accounts helped investigators piece together the events that led to the arrest.


Following an extensive investigation, Javen Orlando Hairston, of 258 Elaines Drive, Stoneville, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody.


Hairston has been charged with the following felony offenses:


  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

  • Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle


Hairston was transported to the Rockingham County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on May 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.


No injuries have been reported at this time, and police have not released additional details about possible victims or the vehicles involved.
