MOUNT AIRY, NC – Two children from the Leatherwood community of Henry County are recovering after being shot in the face Saturday.
A 9-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl were shot around 4:10 PM, the release from the Surry County Sheriff’s Office said
According to the sheriff's office, the shooting was a result of a road rage incident in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Byron Donnell Green, 41, of East Poplar Street in Mount Airy was charged with:
two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
one count of discharging a weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury
one count of assault by pointing a gun
Green is being held at the Surry County Detention Center under a $600,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on June 11.
