COLLINSVILLE, Va. (April 6, 2026) — Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a man accused of carrying out a violent domestic assault involving multiple felony offenses over the weekend.

According to authorities, deputies responded around 9:00 a.m. on April 5 to the Circle K after a woman requested to report a domestic incident. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who reported that the alleged assault occurred the previous day, April 4, at a residence on Goffin Drive in Collinsville.

The victim told investigators that her boyfriend, Christopher Thomas Shepard, 35, with whom she had been living for approximately eight months, carried out multiple acts of violence.

These reportedly included physical assault, strangulation, and non-consensual sexual acts. She also stated that Shepard threatened her life and used a firearm to intimidate and control her during the incident.

Following an investigation, deputies established probable cause and obtained warrants charging Shepard with multiple felonies, including rape, object sexual penetration, strangulation, abduction, assault and battery of a family or household member, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Authorities further noted that Shepard is also wanted in North Carolina for a probation violation related to a prior felony conviction. He is believed to be originally from Graham, North Carolina and has limited ties to Henry County.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the Goffin Drive residence in an effort to locate Shepard, but he was not found. Law enforcement warns that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about Shepard’s whereabouts or details related to the case is urged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or Crime Stoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463). Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $2,500 for information leading to arrests, depending on the nature of the tip.

Authorities emphasize that all tips can remain anonymous.
