MARTINSVILLE, Va. (BTW21) — A quick response to a stolen vehicle alert from a Flock camera resulted in two arrests on Wednesday morning, according to Acting Chief of Police Major Chad Rhoads.
At approximately 11:52 a.m. on October 9, Martinsville Police received an alert from a Flock camera positioned in the Lowe’s parking lot on Commonwealth Boulevard in Henry County.
The alert indicated a possible stolen vehicle in the area, prompting officers to investigate further.
Officers quickly located the vehicle, a 2015 Honda Accord, in the 900 block of North Memorial Boulevard. After stopping the car, they identified the driver as 63-year-old Anthony Wright of Martinsville.
Wright was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, as the vehicle had been reported stolen in Henry County.
The passenger, identified as 48-year-old Tammy Lynn Rose, also from Martinsville, was arrested on charges of possession of a stun gun by a convicted felon.
The stun gun, prohibited for possession by individuals with felony convictions, was found during the stop.
Rhoads confirmed that the stolen Honda Accord was returned to its rightful owner following the arrests.
This case highlights the effectiveness of Flock cameras, which have become an essential tool in tracking stolen vehicles and assisting local law enforcement in quickly apprehending suspects.
Both Wright and Rose were taken into custody without incident and are currently awaiting further legal proceedings. The investigation is ongoing.
Martinsville Police Department urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help keep the community safe.
