MARTINSVILLE – Martinsville Police have arrested a third individual, Corey Vershawn Johnson (age 33), for the murder of Sean Goddard that occurred on May 13, 2018. Johnson is currently in Henry County Jail and is being held without bail. This is a result of the ongoing investigation of the incident. The total persons arrested so far and their charges are as follows:
Corey Vershawn Johnson, Siesta Circle Martinsville, age 33, Murder in the 1st Degree, Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Shoot a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling, Discharging a Firearm in Public Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Discharging a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Handling of a Firearm Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Display a Firearm in the Commission of Murder, Possess Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Brandon Tarall Thomas, B Street Martinsville, age 30; Murder in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Shoot a firearm into an occupied dwelling, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Posses Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Discharging a Firearm in a Street Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Reckless Handling of a Firearm Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Brandishing a Firearm after having been previously convicted of such.
Adrian Eugene Watkins, Travis Court Bassett, age 27; Murder in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Malicious Wounding, Shoot a firearm into an occupied dwelling, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Discharging a Firearm in a Street Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another, Reckless Handling of a Firearm Resulting in Bodily Injury to Another.

On May13, 2018 at approximately 12:40 AM, the Martinsville Police Department was notified of a shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Askin Street. The victim has been taken to SOVAH of Martinsville.
The victim was Sean Demetrius Goddard, Jr., 20, of Axton.
Investigators are processing evidence from the scene and are interviewing witnesses. More information will be released when available; however for now, no further information will be released.
