Collinsville, VA (BTW21) – A 16-year-old reported missing earlier this week has been located and arrested following a violent altercation with law enforcement at a McDonald’s in Collinsville.

On August 6, 2025, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a missing juvenile at the McDonald’s located at 2757 Virginia Avenue.

The teen, identified as Iverson Hart Covington, had been reported missing from his residence on Riverview Court the previous day.

According to authorities, Covington’s mother received information about his whereabouts and went to the McDonald’s, where she found her son with two juvenile females.

After multiple attempts to convince him to return home voluntarily, she contacted the Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Deputies arrived on the scene and attempted to de-escalate the situation, urging Covington to leave with his mother.

However, the teen became increasingly combative and ultimately assaulted both deputies on scene. During the arrest, he continued to resist and act aggressively.

A 14-year-old female who was with Covington also became involved in the altercation, allegedly assaulting one of the deputies while attempting to interfere with the arrest. Both juveniles were taken into custody and transported to Juvenile Intake.

While en route, Covington reportedly caused damage to the interior of the patrol vehicle by chewing through a seatbelt.

Charges filed include:

Iverson Hart Covington (16 years old):

  • Assault on Law Enforcement (Felony) – 2 counts

  • Obstruction of Justice (Misdemeanor)

  • Destruction of Property (Misdemeanor)

14-Year-Old Female Juvenile:

  • Assault on Law Enforcement (Felony)

  • Obstruction of Justice (Misdemeanor)

Both juveniles are currently being held at the W.W. Moore Juvenile Detention Center.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says this remains an active investigation.
