RIDGEWAY – Douglas Hanks is Henry County's newest millionaire.
When Douglas Hanks showed his Bank a Million ticket to the store clerk, the Ridgeway man heard the words many people would love to hear: “I think you won it!”
The clerk was talking about a ticket for the April 29 drawing that won the game’s top prize of $1 million after taxes.
The ticket had been purchased at People’s Save Station on Greensboro Road, but was still unclaimed.
So when Hanks came in with a pocketful of tickets and asked the clerk for help checking them, the clerk was on the lookout for that winning ticket.
After scanning the ticket, the clerk confirmed to Hanks: “You won it!”
The store received a $10,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
