Pursuit and Arrest of Wanted Individual June 2, 2024

EDEN, NC

On June 2, 2024, around 12:24 AM, the Eden Police Department in North Carolina alerted the Henry County Sheriff's Office of an ongoing pursuit involving a wanted individual, Devron Jacqua Dillard, aged 30 from Ruffin, NC, on Highway 87 heading towards Henry County, Virginia. The pursuit was discontinued upon crossing the Virginia state line.

The Eden Police Department had provided information to our deputies indicating that Dillard was wanted and allegedly carrying illegal narcotics in his vehicle. Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office spotted Dillard's vehicle, a 2005 Ford Explorer, traveling North on Morehead Ave. in Ridgeway at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Attempts to stop Dillard were futile as he refused to comply and instead accelerated to speeds over 100 mph on Morehead Avenue. Dillard attempted to turn onto Greensboro Rd. at the intersection of Morehead Avenue and Greensboro Road, but his reckless driving prompted a deputy to execute a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver. This action caused Dillard's vehicle to lose control and collide with the guardrail.

Afterwards, Dillard shattered the window of his vehicle and fled on foot, leading deputies on a brief pursuit before being apprehended without further incident. Upon his arrest, illegal narcotics, including cocaine and crack cocaine, were found in his possession.

Dillard faces several charges by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, including felony eluding, manufacturing, selling, or possessing controlled substances with intent to distribute, and fleeing from a law enforcement officer. Additionally, he had eight outstanding warrants from the Danville Police Department, all of which were served. Eden Police Department is also expected to file charges against Dillard.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes its commitment to community safety and collaboration with neighboring jurisdictions to apprehend individuals who jeopardize public safety. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office or the Crimestoppers Program, which offers rewards up to $2500.00 for relevant information. The amount of reward depends on the nature and significance of the provided information.
