HENRY COUNTY – The first edition of the Henry County Enterprise is now available in several locations in Martinsville and Henry County. "The response has been overwhelmingly positive" said Debbie Hall, editor of the publication that is dedicated to community journalism and telling the stories of the communities it serves. "We are gratified by the interest in and feedback to the first edition," Hall said. "Our publisher, Mike Showell, is dedicated to preserving community journalism. He believes chronicling and sharing the stories of communities is essential.
"Wendi Craig, our sales and marketing manager, did a fantastic job in generating advertising for the first edition.
"We are proud of the end product and we are looking forward to the next edition in December," Hall said. The Henry County Enterprise and The Enterprise in Patrick County both are owned by Virginia Media Inc., a subsidiary of Mountain Media LLC, in Lewisburg, W. Va. The company owns and publishes newspapers in both states. The Enterprise in Patrick County is based in Stuart, and covers the communities in and around Patrick County. Its first edition was printed in 1876, making it one of the oldest continuously operating businesses in that community. In addition to The Enterprise in Patrick County and now Henry County, the company's newspapers in Virginia include the Salem Times Register, The Radford News Journal, The News Messenger in Radford, The Fincastle Herald and others.
