UPDATE: Henry County crash leaves one dead, two injured Sunday



HENRY COUNTY – Virginia State Police is investigating a motor vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Sunday at 8:36 PM on Chatham Road (Route 57), one quarter of a mile west of Mountain Mist Drive (Route 720) in Henry County.

According to state police, a 2009 Honda Civic was traveling west on Chatham Road, when the vehicle abruptly crossed the center line and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox head-on.

The driver of the Honda was identified as Heather Marie Ivey, 32, of Martinsville. Ivey was not wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene. The passenger, Brandon Carson Heath, 32, was wearing his seatbelt and transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash.

The Chevrolet was driven by Tre Dionte Jackson, 26, of Martinsville. Jackson was wearing his seatbelt and was injured. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash.

The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to assist. The crash remains under investigation.
