Meth, heroin seized during traffic stop in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY – On December 12, just after midnight, a deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling Virgil H. Goode Highway just south of Boones Mill. The deputy observed a red Ford pickup truck driving recklessly. The deputy conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the location of Lane E. Arnold, 33, of Spencer, who was wanted out of Henry County on three outstanding warrants.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing a crystalline substance, a plastic bag containing a brownish powder, hypodermic needles, digital scales and numerous glassine baggies. The crystalline substance later tested positive for methamphetamine and the brownish powder later tested positive for heroin. Arnold was served on the outstanding Henry County warrants as well as additional charges in Franklin County for possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of methamphetamine. Arnold’s passenger, Jennie L. Donley, 31, of Martinsville, was also arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Arnold is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail without bond. Donley is currently being held without bond in the Western Virginia Regional Jail.
