MARTINSVILLE – On Tuesday November 6, 2018 a Martinsville Grand Jury met and handed down 235 indictments. Of that number 149 indictments were sealed by the Martinsville Circuit Court until the individuals could be arrested. Of those 112 were related to the distribution of illegal drugs. On Thursday November 8, 2018 members of the Martinsville Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police, the United States Marshal’s Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, The Drug Enforcement Administration Diversion Control Division and Enforcement Division and assisted by the Martinsville Sheriff’s Office and the Martinsville Henry County 911 Center set out to make the arrest on the narcotic’s warrants. The operation continued throughout the weekend and as a result, 86 of those narcotics related indictments have been served. The names, and charges of those arrested are attached on a separate sheet.
These indictments were a result of the Martinsville Police Department’s continuing effort to fight the distribution of illegal drugs and the harm they do to our community. All of the arrests were made possible by the strong partnership that has been developed between the community and the Martinsville Police Department. We would also like to recognize the hard work of the Martinsville Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office during this process.
