EDEN, NC – A man who lead police in Virginia and North Carolina to conduct a manhunt in Ridgeway is now in custody.
Authorities say 37-year-old Jesse Wayne Edwards surrendered peacefully at the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office Friday night around 11:45 PM.
Edwards is being held in the Rockingham County Detention Center under a $3 million bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on July 30.
TUESDAY UPDATE
HENRY COUNTY – A manhunt is underway in Ridgeway for a kidnapping and shooting suspect after being spotted Tuesday.
Jesse Wayne Edwards, of Eden, North Carolina, was spotted around 12 PM and ran off into the woods.
Virginia State Police and Henry County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the search.
Edwards is considered armed and dangerous.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, NC – The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and Eden Police Department are seeking the whereabouts of Jesse Wayne Edwards, 37, of Eden, NC.
Edwards is wanted for a number of outstanding arrests warrants in connection to several crimes that occurred on Sunday.
The sheriff's office say at around 9:30 PM, Edwards held a man at gunpoint in Ruffin and demanded to be driven to Eden.
The man transported Edwards to that location where he fired five shots from a rifle inside the man’s vehicle at the home.
At around 10:30 PM, Eden Police responded to the home in reference to shots fired into the residence.
Officers say they discovered a female victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.
She had already been taken to the hospital.
Jesse Edwards was charged with:
one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury
one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling
one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
one count of larceny of a firearm
one count of assault by pointing a gun
one count of first degree kidnapping
