A Lynchburg Circuit Court judge has convicted a man of felony charges of aggravated sexual battery and strangulation, according to the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for the city of Lynchburg.
Nathaniel Richard Fuller was found guilty on Monday, February 24, in connection with a violent assault that occurred at a local hotel in June 2024.
Fuller was also found guilty of a misdemeanor charge of unlawful creation of an image of another, but was acquitted of a charge of malicious wounding.
The conviction stems from an incident on June 2, 2024, when Lynchburg Police responded to a call at the Baymont Inn on Wards Road, where they found a victim who had been severely assaulted.
According to officials, the victim had arranged to meet Fuller at the hotel after he contacted her through an escort site.
When police arrived, they found the victim with significant injuries, including redness, bruising, and scratches to her neck area, a large black eye, and difficulty speaking.
The victim was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment.
The investigation revealed that Fuller had asked the victim about additional sexual activity, and before she could respond, he grabbed her by the neck with both hands, strangling her and preventing her from breathing.
The victim lost consciousness, and when she was found by her friend, she was unconscious on the floor, without pants, and with her top pulled up to her neck.
Fuller was identified as the suspect after an extensive investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department, with assistance from the Waynesboro Police Department.
He was arrested and charged in connection with the crime.
The conviction is a significant victory for the victim and the community, and serves as a reminder of the importance of holding perpetrators of violent crimes accountable for their actions.
The case highlights the dangers of online interactions and the importance of prioritizing safety and well-being.
