RIDGEWAY, VA – It couldn't be set up any better for a Tuesday night of basketball as Magna Vista hosted bitter rival, Martinsville against amidst Warrior Nation.
The Lady Bulldogs came in as the number two seed looking to dethrone the top seeded Lady Warriors in their final meeting this season.
Martinsville had the lead multiple times including an 11 point lead in the fourth quarter.
That was until Magna Vista turned up the pressure causing turnover after turnover.
The Lady Warriors cut the lead down to three when senior Mackenzie Hairston had a chance for an and one.
She would miss the shot but after another impressive defensive possession, another senior leader Ciara Dillard would take the lead.
Magna Vista would defeat Martinsville in the most important but third game of their series to win the District Championship.
The seniors after the game were elated to finally earn their tournament crown as they have seen the peaks and valleys.
With such an emotional title game, it is easy to say this one will stick with both teams for a long time.
The Lady Warriors won the Piedmont District with the support of their home crowd and for the first time since the reintroduction of the tournament.
Magna Vista was victorious over Martinsville with a score of 36-35.
