HENRY COUNTY, VA — Henry County’s front door to the world just got a little bigger. The Blue Ridge Regional Airport celebrated the completion of its long-anticipated runway expansion this morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a significant infrastructure achievement for Martinsville-Henry County and the surrounding region.

The expanded runway greatly increases the airport’s operational capacity, allowing it to accommodate more air traffic and larger aircraft.

Airport officials say the improvement boosts the region’s competitiveness by enhancing access for corporate travelers, business leaders, and prospective investors—strengthening efforts to attract new industries while improving connectivity for existing employers.

Local and state leaders joined Jason Davis, managing director of the Blue Ridge Regional Airport, to highlight the strategic impact of the project and its importance for long-term economic growth.

Community members braved the brisk morning weather, warmed by coffee and hot chocolate provided by Factory Roast.

The ceremony marked the culmination of a multi-partner effort aimed at elevating the region’s transportation infrastructure.

Congratulations were shared all around for a project viewed as a major step forward for the area’s future development.
