Henry County house fire leaves three people displaced

HENRY COUNTY, VA – Three adults were displaced after a house fire early Sunday morning in Henry County.

Firefighters responded shortly after 2:30 a.m. for the incident on Amos Road.

The occupants tried to put out the fire themselves before they called the fire department, so it spread pretty quickly after that. It scorched the other house,Dyer's Store Fire Chief Tommy Martin told BTW21 News at the scene.

Henry County Fire Marshal Lisa Garrett said the three adults lost everything and are being assisted by Red Cross.

We think the fire started on the porch, because the call came in as that,Martin added.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and it will take a couple of days to determine, Garrett explained.

Firefighters from Martinsville and Collinsville assisted the Dyer's Store Volunteer Fire Department.

No one was injured by the large blaze and crews cleared the scene at 6:38 a.m.
