FRANKLIN COUNTY – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is advising churches of an increase in criminal activity around several houses of worship. Deputies say eight churches had thefts that occurred between August 17 and September 20. The incidents happened in areas of Rocky Mount, Ferrum, Wirtz and Penhook of Franklin County. Thieves have stolen air conditioning units, lawn mowers and other equipment from church storage units.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office advises all churches to lock storage buildings, log and record all equipment’s serial numbers and descriptions, plus install cameras and make sure any cameras on premise are working properly. They say light, camera, action is not just a Hollywood term. Use lights, take action and set up cameras in order to deter those that wish to do you harm.
