BASSETT – A fawn was rescued after getting stuck between two trees at Philpott Lake Tuesday.

Volunteer Tony Moats was riding up the river to the tailrace area when he heard the fawn crying out for help.

He notified the Visitor Center by radio to let the Rangers know about the deer.

Assistant Operations Manager Brian Stewart donned his waders and crossed the river.

Stewart was able to free the deer and returned it to the mother.
