Personal Contract Purchase arrangements have fundamentally changed how British motorists access vehicles. After testing dozens of finance options throughout my career, I've noticed PCP offers monthly payments considerably lower than traditional hire purchase because you're only financing depreciation rather than full vehicle value. Pcp demonstrates this with their representative example showing £185.33 monthly payments when borrowing £7,000 over five years at 21.9% APR. A practical scenario involving a £20,000 vehicle illustrates how this works. With a 10% deposit of £2,000, your monthly payments cover the £12,000 depreciation from £20,000 down to an £8,000 guaranteed minimum future value. That final £8,000 becomes your optional balloon payment if you decide to keep the vehicle at contract end.
