RIDGEWAY – A man was hospitalized after crashing into a tree on Greensboro Road.

The single vehicle crash occurred Tuesday around 9:30 PM in front of Drewy Mason Elementary School.

According to Virginia State Police, the man in his 60s was involved in a hit-and-run on Morgan Ford Road earlier Tuesday. The victim of the hit-and-run positively identified the white in color Ford pickup truck as being the vehicle involved, state police said.

State police added that alcohol was a factor and the driver of the Ford was not wearing a seatbelt.

Aircare landed on a field at Drewy Mason School but was not used. The driver of the Ford was transported to Sovah Heath by a Henry County Public Safety ambulance.

Ridgeway District Volunteer Fire Department and Henry County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.

State police continues to investigate the crash.
