19-year-old airlifted to hospital after drive-by shooting in Fieldale



FIELDALE – A 19-year-old was airlifted to the hospital after being shot twice in an alleged drive-by shooting, according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office.

Monday at approximately 12:35 PM, authorities were notified that an individual had been shot in the 700 block of Daniels Creek Road in Fieldale. Upon arrival, deputies found a man inside the residence with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Alton Laron Baker who lives at the address. He was airlifted to Roanoke where he underwent surgery for gunshot wounds to the torso and arm.

Baker stated that he was outside when two African American males in a black vehicle with dark windows fired a gun at him hitting him twice.

Authorities say through the course of the investigation, illegal narcotics were discovered inside of the residence. 

The Henry County Sheriff's Office continues to look for the individuals who may be responsible for the shooting. Anyone who may have been passing through the area, saw anything or has information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or the Crimestoppers Program at 276-6327463. The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2500.00 for information related to crime.  The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid."
