RIDGEWAY – Shortly after 9 PM Sunday night, a man knocked on the door of a home on Eggleston Falls Road asking the resident to call 911. The man had been involved in a single vehicle accident. Emergency personnel responded to the 900 block of Eggleston Falls Road in Ridgeway to find a gray sedan on its side in a wooded area off the roadway. Virginia State Police told BTW21 the vehicle was a gray Chevrolet Impala.
Both individuals were injured in the accident. One of the individuals was unresponsive and trapped in the Chevrolet. Ridgeway District Volunteer Fire Department was able to remove the individual from the vehicle. That individual was semi-responsive before being transported to the hospital by Ridgeway District Volunteer Rescue Squad.
After authorities arrived, the other individual involved attempted to flee the scene. State police said after a short foot pursuit, he was detained. Both individuals were charged with driving under the influence, according to Virginia State Police.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office and Henry County Public Safety responded. Eggleston Falls Road was closed during this incident.
