State Police encourages Virginians to delay travel plans Wednesday

Virginia State Police is encouraging those living and working in those regions most impacted by the snow and icy conditions to delay travel until mid-day Wednesday. State police says that enables VDOT to tend to the roads and ensures safe travel conditions for everyone.

State police says they are on alert for the coming winter weather. They will have all available troopers working to respond to crashes and disabled vehicles, which are the most common calls for service during winter weather conditions. Troopers will also extend shifts or call out additional resources, if needed.

If you must travel, drive for conditions by slowing your speed, using headlights and avoiding distractions. To check road conditions before heading out go to www.511virginia.org.
