Sharon Brooks Hodges resigns from Martinsville City Council


MARTINSVILLE – Sharon Brooks Hodge has resigned from her seat on Martinsville City Council, effective July 31, so she can move to Atlanta to better handle her career responsibilities according to a statement she read at Tuesday nights council meeting.


Sharon Brooks Hodge was elected to the Martinsville City Council November 6, 2012 for a four-year term ending on December 31, 2016 and was re-elected November 8, 2016.


Councilwoman Hodge spent 25 years in journalism and corporate communications before becoming the executive director of Black Family Preservation Group, Inc., a national organization that promotes marriage and stable, two-parent African-American home environments.
