HENRY COUNTY, VA – The sales and use tax rate in Henry County will go up by 1% for a total of 6.3% starting on April 1.
This includes the 4.3% state tax, the 1% local option tax and 1% from the county’s additional tax.
The change was approved by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly and passed by voters in the county in November.
Officials say revenue from the additional tax will be used for capital projects for the construction or improvement of schools.
This rate does not apply to food or essential personal hygiene products as both are taxed at a reduced rate.
