Martinsville, VA — Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) has received a $50,000 donation from an anonymous donor to strengthen its workforce training program for justice-impacted populations.

The contribution will provide critical support for individuals transitioning back into the community after incarceration, helping them gain job skills and secure meaningful employment.

The donation highlights the urgent need for supportive services immediately following release and emphasizes the role education and workforce training play in promoting long-term stability.

Funds will be used to support on-the-job training (OJT) programs designed to lead directly to employment, offering participants a clear pathway to financial independence and success.

“This gift represents a powerful investment in second chances,” said P&HCC President Dr. Greg Hodges. “By removing barriers to education and employment, we can help individuals rebuild their lives, contribute to their communities, and reduce recidivism.”

The P&HCC Foundation will oversee the allocation of the funds to ensure they are used effectively and provide maximum benefit to students enrolled in the program.

The initiative aligns with the college’s broader mission to deliver accessible education, workforce training, and holistic support services to justice-involved individuals across the region.

Through partnerships with local law enforcement and workforce leaders, P&HCC continues to expand opportunities that address both community needs and employer demand, while supporting individuals seeking a fresh start.
