ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — An Eden man is facing a felony charge after detention staff reportedly found a makeshift weapon inside his cell at the Rockingham County Detention Facility.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office said detention officers conducted several cell searches within the facility’s housing units on August 6. During one search, jail personnel seized a makeshift weapon from an inmate’s cell.

Authorities charged 28-year-old Divine Christian Battle of Eden with felony possession of a weapon by a prisoner.

Battle was taken before a magistrate and received a $50,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on August 11.

Sheriff Billy Parker thanked the detention facility staff for their dedication and continued efforts to maintain safety inside the jail.
