Martinsville City seeks network administrator

MARTINSVILLE – The City of Martinsville is accepting applications for the position of Network Administrator. This is technical work of a specialized nature involving implementation, design, and administration of Windows based networks and servers. The employee in this position is responsible for operational support for the City use of local area network resources, including server administration, Internet access, desktop support, remote access services, and application support.

The position provides support for commercial off the shelf software (COTS) with minimal customization such as MUNIS, Record Management System, Vision, etc. Software systems include support for Public Safety applications, Financial and HR applications, Tax Billing and Collection applications, Utility billing applications, and permitting applications, among others. Monitors the entire network by reviewing and installing software updates and security requirements. Handles Help Desk services by providing support for hardware and software; interacting with users directly over the phone or in-person; diagnosing and repairing network and computer system problems; coordinating repairs with vendors for warranties.

Associate degree in Information System technology supplemented by four years’ experience involving implementation, design, and administration of networks; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
