MARTINSVILLE – Carlisle School will enter its 50th year of operation under new leadership, Board of Directors President Eric Monday announced today.

Gracie Agnew will join Carlisle as the Head of School after over 40 years in local education, serving most recently as interim principal at Bassett High School.

“I am thrilled to join Carlisle and I look forward to working with the talented staff in place there,” Agnew said. “I am committed to education and passionate about the opportunity ahead of me.”

Previous Head of School Tommy Hudgins resigned from his position at Carlisle to pursue other professional opportunities.

“Bringing Gracie on board at Carlisle is an exciting opportunity for renewal and reinvention as we enter our 50th year,” Monday said. “The Board is thrilled to have her at the helm as we enter the most important year for the school since its founding.”

Agnew, whose career began in Henry County Schools in 1974, said that her experience in education allowed her to recognize the opportunity in leading Carlisle into the next 50 years.
