Axton home total loss, investigation underway

AXTON – At around 2 AM Friday morning, neighbors called 911 to report heavy smoke showing from a home on Martin Lane. When firefighters arrived, they found fames showing on the Axton home’s roof.

“We Initialed attack, the homeowner said he got woke up by the dogs barking and smoke alarms going off,” said Axton Fire Chief. All residents made it out safely. According to fire officials, the home is a total loss. The Red Cross is assistanting the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Henry County’s fire marshal.
