Henry County woman killed in shootout with her boyfriend identified




HENRY COUNTY, VA – A woman killed after a gunfight with her boyfriend in Henry County has been identified.


The 9-1-1 center got a call Saturday around 9:30 p.m. from a man stating that he had been shot by his girlfriend and he had also shot her.


Deputies responded to an apartment at 89 Meadow Green Road in Bassett and say they found the caller, Tyson Hairston, 32, of Collinsville, with multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and torso.


He was airlifted to a Roanoke hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.


Tambria Taylor, 32, of the apartment, was also found inside with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.


The body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia, where an autopsy will be performed.


According to the Henry County Sheriff's Office, Hairston and Taylor got into an argument while carrying guns.


Authorities say they each fired their guns, hitting each other multiple times.


This incident remains under investigation.

HENRY COUNTY, VA – Detectives in Henry County are investigating a homicide Saturday night.


Captain Wayne Davis told BTW21 News a woman has died after a shooting at an apartment complex on Meadow Green Road.

“This evening around 9:30, the 9-1-1 center received a call from a male subject. He advised that he had been shot multiple time and the female inside the apartment had also been shot multiple times,” Davis said.

The female died at the scene and the male was airlifted to the hospital for serious gunshot wounds.

“The preliminary investigation shows that it was domestic related and the two individuals got into a heated argument inside the apartment. The female shot the male and the male subsequently shot the female,” the Captain stated.


Davis said this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.


The investigation is ongoing.
