Woman arrested, man hospitalized after stabbing

PATRICK COUNTY, VA – A Stuart man was airlifted following a Tuesday evening stabbing.
The incident occurred at 405 East Blue Ridge Street in Stuart at around 6:05 p.m. when Ashley Dayton, 31, of Stuart, arrived a home occupied by Patrick Russell, 44, and others.
There was a physical confrontation between Russell, Dayton and other person following an argument, according to Sheriff Dan Smith.
Dayton pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed Russell in the shoulder blade.
The Sheriff said Dayton then allegedly took Russell’s vehicle and fled the scene before deputies got there.
She was arrested about 15 minutes later at Cedar Square apartments.
Smith said Russell is currently in stable condition at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.
Dayton has been charged with malicious wounding and grand larceny and is being held without bond in the Patrick County Jail.
