Wayne Davis sworn in as Henry County Sheriff




HENRY COUNTY, VA – There is a new sheriff in town.


A ceremony was held on Monday afternoon to swear in Colonel Wayne Davis as Henry County's new Sheriff.


Davis has been with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years and moved up the ranks.


The county's current Sheriff Lane Perry will retire on Friday, June 30 after over 30 years of service including 17 years as sheriff.


During the ceremony, Davis said Lieutenant Colonel Eric Hairston will serve as Chief Deputy, Danny Harold will remain Major, Alan Hall will be Captain of Professional Standards, Tim Compton will be Captain of the Investigations Division and Kelly Redd will be the Captain of the Corrections Division for his command staff.


An election for Henry County Sheriff will be held on Tuesday, November 7.


Davis, Del Mills and Daryl Hatcher are the official candidates.
