Virginia State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Pittsylvania County

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (BTW21)Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Monday morning, August 18, 2025, on Route 844 in Pittsylvania County.
At approximately 4:42 a.m., a 2022 Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on Route 844 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle crossed the centerline.
The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to run off the right side of the road and strike a tree.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Kevin Leander Myers, 37, of Dry Fork, Va., was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
The crash remains under active investigation.
