HENRY COUNTY, Va.
The Virginia State Police are currently investigating a tragic single-vehicle accident that resulted in a fatality.
The incident took place on Tuesday, September 17, at 10:53 p.m. on Route 57, near the intersection with Route 1649 in Henry County.
A 1998 Land Rover was traveling eastbound on Route 57 when it veered off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, and overturned, ejecting the driver.
The driver, identified as 66-year-old Ray D. Smith from Axton, Va., was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
