Virginia Crackdown Leads to Major Drug and Gun Seizures, Dozens of Trafficking Tips

RICHMOND, Va. (BTW21) — The Virginia State Police (VSP) reported a significant week of law enforcement activity across the Commonwealth, recovering narcotics, firearms, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash during coordinated operations between September 17 and 23.
According to officials, the week-long effort was conducted in collaboration with multiple federal and local agencies and aimed at bolstering public safety while targeting criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, firearms offenses, and human trafficking.

Narcotics Seized Included:
Cocaine: 11.1 pounds
Crack Cocaine: 0.1 ounces
Heroin: 0.4 ounces
Psilocybin (hallucinogenic mushrooms): 3.3 pounds
Methamphetamine: 3.1 pounds
Marijuana: 89.9 pounds
Fentanyl: 1.1 ounces
Fentanyl Pills: 57
MDMA (Ecstasy) Pills: 2
THC Vapes: 50
THC Dab: 0.1 ounces
Human Trafficking Investigations
The VSP also made strides in its fight against human trafficking. A total of 22 new human trafficking tips were received during the week, bringing the overall number of reported tips to 1,245. Of these, 219 cases have been or are currently being actively investigated.
Most notably, 70 victims of human trafficking were identified.
Authorities say the success of this operation underscores the importance of continued multi-agency cooperation to target organized criminal activity and protect vulnerable populations.
The Virginia State Police have not yet released information about arrests or pending charges, as investigations remain ongoing.
