June 11, 2025 | Henry County, VA — (BTW21)A routine traffic stop quickly escalated into a vehicle pursuit on the afternoon of June 10, 2025, ending in an arrest and the continued search for a wanted suspect.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., a Henry County Sheriff’s Office Deputy attempted to stop a green Ford Ranger pickup truck in the 1500 block of Stones Dairy Road in the Bassett area.
The driver failed to comply, continuing at low speed and turning onto Jarrett Drive.
During the slow-speed pursuit, deputies observed the vehicle's passenger door open multiple times, raising concerns that one of the occupants might attempt to flee.
The vehicle came to a stop behind a residence located at 1053 Jarrett Drive. The driver, later identified as Brandee Taylor Feazelle, 25, of Collinsville, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
She was apprehended shortly after by pursuing deputies.
The front seat passenger, James William Shaffer, fled into a wooded area behind a nearby trailer.
A third individual also exited the vehicle and fled but was quickly detained by another deputy.
That individual was later released after it was confirmed they had no outstanding warrants.
Feazelle and Shaffer were both found to have active arrest warrants. A K-9 unit was deployed to track Shaffer, but the search was unsuccessful.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of suspected narcotics and paraphernalia.
These items have been collected and submitted to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science Western Lab in Roanoke for further analysis.
Feazelle is currently being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center. She faces multiple charges, including:
Possession of Schedule I or II Controlled Substances (§18.2-250)
Probation Violation (§19.2-306)
Fail to Stop for Law Enforcement (§46.2-817)
Loud Exhaust (§46.2-1049)
Improper Tread Depth (§46.2-1043)
Authorities continue to search for James William Shaffer, who is wanted on two counts of Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance (§18.2-250).
