HENRY COUNTY, VA – The Virginia Department of Transportation is ready to tackle the upcoming snow in Henry County.

Primary roads were pre-treated Thursday morning with a saltwater brine solution which helps prevent ice from bonding with pavement.

There is the possibility of icy conditions later Thursday night into Friday morning.

VDOT crews will monitor conditions and may lay salt and sand during and after the winter weather.

This will be done to break down ice and to help with traction.

If travel is necessary, drivers are encouraged to use caution, reduce speeds, and brake slowly when on the road.

Remember that bridges, overpasses, and ramps are prone to freezing first.

Drivers should check Virginia 511 for travel conditions.
