MARTINSVILLE, VA – ValleyStar Credit Union has promoted Misty Reed to the role of Chief Credit Officer.
ValleyStar says with over 22 years of experience in banks and credit unions, Reed's career demonstrates her expertise in the financial sector.

Previously serving as Senior Vice President of Credit Administration at the credit union, Reed brings extensive experience in commercial lending, underwriting, operations, and credit administration to her new position, a news release said.
The release said she has excelled in various roles, including Chief Commercial Credit Officer at a previous employer.
Her achievements include receiving the 2017 Lending Officer of the Year award from Credit Union Times.
Reed has also contributed to the industry by leading financial analysis courses in collaboration with the Risk Management Association and local Small Business Development Centers.
Moreover, she has served as the past President of the Southwest Virginia Chapter of the Risk Management Association.
With academic credentials including a Master of Business Administration from King University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lenoir-Rhyne University, Reed is well-prepared to lead ValleyStar's credit operations, the release read.
Beyond her professional role, she is actively engaged in community service, serving as the Chair of the Blue Ridge Council of Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia, former Audit Chair of the Girl Scouts Skyline Council, and volunteering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
