Danville, VA – April 18, 2025 (BTW21) The Danville Police Department has identified Jaelynn Lowen, 21, of Danville, as the suspect in the fatal shooting of Pinakin Patel, 47, that occurred midday Thursday outside a convenience store on South Boston Road.
Lowen is now wanted on charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution, as Lowen is considered armed and dangerous.
The Danville Police Department expressed gratitude to members of the community who came forward with tips that led to the discovery of a blue Honda Odyssey, located on Halifax Road.
This vehicle was seen leaving the scene shortly after the shooting and played a key role in advancing the investigation.
On Thursday, April 17, at approximately 12:41 p.m., Danville Police responded to a reported shooting in the parking lot of the Airport Mart Exxon, located at 1385 South Boston Road.
Upon arrival, officers found Pinakin Patel suffering from gunshot wounds. Patel, who was associated with the store, had reportedly engaged in a confrontation with the suspect over an alleged theft. The situation escalated, resulting in the suspect firing a weapon at Patel.
Emergency responders provided immediate aid, and Patel was transported to SOVAH Danville, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored Honda Odyssey bearing Virginia license plate TDM-5557, headed westbound on South Boston Road.
The vehicle was later identified by the department’s newly installed license plate reader system, which helped pinpoint its location.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on Jaelynn Lowen’s whereabouts to come forward. Multiple avenues for providing tips are available:
