UPDATE: Arrest Made in Connection to Ridge Road Homicide; Investigation Ongoing

Martinsville, VA — May 1, 2025 (BTW21) An arrest has been made in connection with the April 29 homicide of James Baldwin Jr., whose body was discovered the following day on the shoulder of Lee’s Ridge Road in Henry County.
On April 30, Martinsville Police arrested Jermaine Dominique Finney, 36, of Martinsville, on a charge of concealing or transporting a dead body, a Class 6 felony.
Finney is currently being held without bond at the Martinsville City Jail.
Authorities responded to the 500 block of Lee’s Ridge Road on April 30, where Baldwin was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation led officers to 1145 Ridge Road in Martinsville. A search warrant was executed at the residence by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Martinsville Police Department, where evidence confirmed that the homicide took place inside the home.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke is conducting a forensic examination of the victim.
The Martinsville Police Department has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation, working closely with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Several persons of interest are being interviewed, and authorities expect more charges and arrests in the case.
Investigators are still seeking the public’s assistance in locating a gold 2022 Chevrolet Trax with Virginia license plate TGB-2200, believed to be connected to the investigation.
