United Airlines Jet Overshoots Runway at Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport, No Injuries Reported

ROANOKE, Va. – A United Airlines flight overshot the runway during landing at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport on Wednesday night.
According to officials, the incident occurred at approximately 9:18 p.m. on September 24, 2025, when a United Airlines Embraer EMB-145XR, tail number N21129, failed to stop within the runway after touching down.
The aircraft continued off the end of the paved surface and came to a halt on the airport’s engineered materials arresting system (EMAS), which is designed to safely decelerate planes in such situations.
The flight was carrying 53 passengers and crew members. Airport officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and will lead an investigation into the incident to determine what caused the overshoot.
The crash remains under investigation.
