Two men dead after Saturday shooting, sheriff’s office says



FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – Two men are dead following a family involved shooting, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.


Saturday around 5:38 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded the 300 block of Countryside Lane in Rocky Mount after a 911 caller informed them that a man had shot a family member.


Deputies and Franklin County Public Safety arrived at the scene and say they found two men outside of the residence with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.


54-year-old David Ray Wyatt, of Rocky Mount, was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to authorities.


The Sheriff’s Office says 65-year-old Terry Allen Hurline, of Rocky Mount, was taken to the hospital, where he died due to his life- threatening injuries.


This is believed to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public, authorities say.


The investigation of this incident remains ongoing.
