Two Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Bedford County, State Police Say

BEDFORD CO., Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left two people dead Friday evening in Bedford County.
The crash occurred on December 5 at 7:21 p.m. on Stewartsville Road, approximately three-tenths of a mile north of Afton Meadow Road.
According to state police, a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500Â was traveling east on Stewartsville Road when it ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The driver, Angela Marie Heffinger, 53, of Moneta, was wearing her seatbelt but died at the scene. Her passenger, Randy Lee Simmons, 54, was also restrained and died at the scene, authorities said.
State Police report that the crash remains under investigation.
