Two Charged with Felony Child Abuse After Incident Leads to Hospital Visit in Eden

Two individuals are facing felony child abuse charges following an investigation launched by the Eden Police Department after a child was brought to Annie Penn Hospital for medical attention on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
According to the Eden Police Department, officers were notified about the child’s condition after a report came in from hospital staff.
Detectives responded immediately to begin a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following that investigation, authorities arrested 19-year-old Hannah Leighann Sheckells and 22-year-old Corey Hunter Latour, both of whom are now facing charges of Felony Child Abuse.
Sheckells was transported to the Rockingham County Magistrate’s Office, where she was issued a $50,000 secured bond.
She is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on September 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Latour later turned himself in to authorities at the same magistrate’s office and was given a $200,000 secured bond.
He is also set to appear in Wentworth District Court on September 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Due to the age of the victim, the Eden Police Department has stated that no further information will be released at this time to protect the child’s identity and privacy.
