PATRICK COUNTY, VA – A Mount Airy, NC man and woman were arrested following a pursuit that ended in Patrick County.
Shortly after noon on Monday, the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office says it was notified by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office that they were in pursuit of a blue Chevrolet Cobalt coming into Virginia on Route 103.
Surry County deputies terminated the pursuit shortly after entering Virginia and a short time later, a Patrick County deputy spotted the Chevrolet on Route 103.
The Chevrolet tried to flee by turning onto Beasley Hollow Road, the deputy chased the vehicle to the end of the road, and onto a logging road for about one half of a mile.
The suspect vehicle then stopped and both occupants surrendered without incident, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.
Sheriff Smith said the pursuit was initiated because a Surry County deputy allegedly witnessed Ismael Valle Maysonet, 35, of Gallow Drive, running from the probation and parole office in Mount Airy, NC handcuffed with his hands in front of him.
Maysonette then jumped into the Chevrolet, allegedly being driven by Alexis Danielle Collins, 24, of Melissa Drive, and sped away.
Maysonet is being held on a fugitive of justice warrant.
Collins is facing charges for misdemeanor eluding law enforcement and driving on a revoked license for the Patrick County incident.
She has felony eluding law enforcement, reckless driving and other pending charges in Surry County, NC.
Both are being held without bail in the Patrick County Jail and are awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
