BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. — Emergency crews responded Thursday morning after a train struck a tractor-trailer in the Eagle Rock area, according to local officials.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. in the 15000 block of Narrow Passage Road. When firefighters from the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department arrived, they found that a CSX coal train had collided with a tractor-trailer loaded with scrap rail. The truck was positioned on the tracks at the time of impact.

Authorities reported that no one was hurt in the incident, and there were no hazardous materials involved, posing no risk to nearby residents.

Officials asked the public to steer clear of the section of Narrow Passage Road near James Street while crews worked to clear the scene.

Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including Virginia State Police, Botetourt County Fire & EMS, and the Eagle Rock Volunteer Fire Department.

First responders used the incident as a reminder of the importance of railroad safety and urged drivers to remain alert and cautious around train crossings.
