Martinsville, VA –(BTW21) March 11, 2025 A tragic event unfolded Tuesday night when Martinsville Police Officers conducted a well-being check at a residence located at 120 Park Street.

The check was prompted by a concerning social media post made by the resident, James Michael Tucker, 53, who indicated that he and his wife, Lisa Dawn Allred-Tucker, 52, would be found deceased inside their home.

Around 7:00 p.m. that evening, officers arrived at the house to find both individuals lying in bed, unresponsive.

No signs of forced entry or struggle were apparent, and both appeared to have died of natural causes.

Officers also discovered handwritten notes from the couple, detailing their intentions and offering instructions for their belongings and possessions.

Authorities collected several medications from the scene, though the exact cause of death remains undetermined.

The state medical examiner's office has been notified, and an official autopsy will be conducted to establish the precise cause.

While all indications suggest that the deaths may be suicides, Martinsville Detectives are taking precautionary measures by thoroughly documenting and processing the scene.

Authorities emphasize that the investigation will continue until all facts are clarified.

In the absence of new evidence, the case will remain under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

At this time, no additional updates will be provided unless new information comes to light that contradicts the current understanding of the incident.

The community remains in shock as police continue their investigation into this deeply sad event.

I became friends with Lisa Dawn Tucker on Facebook about a year ago. She was a very intelligent forward thinking person who cared about the plight. I didn't know Jim that well but he seemed to be the same type person as Lisa. She had a very hard life during her formative years and went through some extremely hard time. I will miss our interactions. Hope for her friends and family. Rest in peace.
